In the Place d’Armes. Montreal, there are two striking bronze sculptures. They depict a man dressed in traditionally English clothing and a woman dressed in a stereotypically French style standing far apart and looking away from one another. In the arms of the man is a Pug, in the woman’s – a poodle. The dogs in their arms are looking towards each other with friendly expressions, as if longing to close the distance between them.
The statues represent the collective heritage and inner friendship but also distance between English and French Canadians.
